St. Laurent works on a deep black base crossed by elegant gold, bronze and fine ivory veining. The veins are thin and numerous, crossing each other at shallow angles across the whole surface, with a handful thickening into pale ivory ridges that carry the eye through the composition. Beneath them the ground is not flat black but mottled charcoal, which gives the slab depth when it is read close up.
Made from colour body porcelain with rectified edges, the slab offers low water absorption and clean continuity across large surfaces. The matt finish softens reflections and gives the slab a rich, natural character. On a dark surface this matters more than on a pale one: matt keeps fingerprints and light glare from dominating, which is why dark kitchen tops are so often specified honed rather than polished. Faces A and B form a coordinated pair, the crossing veins mirroring into a symmetrical structure at the joint. At 160 × 320 cm a single pair covers an island and its waterfall return.
